The Civil Procedure Code 1908 was published on March 21, 1908, and came into effect on January 1, 1909. It is Act No. 5 of 1908 and is a procedural law. This law initially had 158 sections and 51 orders, but after revisions in 1914 and 1973, the last three sections (156, 157, and 158) were repealed, and in 1949, the last order (151) was also repealed, leaving it with 155 sections and 150 orders currently.

Bangladesh Bar Council is a statutory autonomous body. It was established by the Bangladesh Legal Practitioners and Bar Council Order, 1972 (Presidential Order No. 46 of 1972). Under sub-section (1) of Article 40 of this Order, the Bar Council can, with prior approval of the government, make rules through gazette notifications to carry out its functions in certain specified matters.
